Bang!... Iliette took a fighting stance... Bang!... She backed herself up away from the door as much as she could...BANG!!! The door busted open revealing the beast.
It was a Coeurl. A large one, Iliette could say it was the largest one that she has seen, bigger then the one that lay in Brayflox, but she also spotted the chains, the lack of fur around them, the large gashes on the side, the infected eye. This *beast* was just as much a prisoner here as she was and neither of them had the option of freedom.
The guards were holding the chains and leading it into the arena with whips and lashes. The coeurl howled in pain. The crowd throwing rocks at them, Iliette could *feel* how scared the animal was. Tsk... Iliette put her hands in front of herself as a shield.
The Coeurl, on cue lunged at Iliette. She had no intention of fighting it, so she stepped aside. The nameless coeurl hit the wall with a loud thud and turned it's head trying to spot Iliette. Iliette didn't make any sudden movements. She was looking around for a weapon when the cat struck and lunged at her once more knocking her off her foot, it didn't hesitate to try to bite Iliette, but she showed her lower arm in it's mouth to take the brunt of the bite. The crowd cheered with every drop of blood, like a pack of dogs looking to get fed.
Iliette had no intention of becoming of the show or the dinner and pushed the larger animal off from her, growling and gritting her teeth as it went. She huffed from the exhaustion as the beast quickly recovered and tried again and lunged once more.
Iliette spotted the guard trying to hold back the crowd,he was awfully close to the edge, his lance leaning over the arena, Iliette smirked. "Chance..." she muttered as she charged. She ran straight by the Coeurl and jumped against the wall using it as leverage and grabbed onto the guard's lance. The man tried to shake her off, beating her against the wall, but to no avail, she smiled at the man as his grip loosened and dropped her back into the arena.
Iliette landed on her feet and staggered to regain balance. The coeurl circled around her, it seemed that he was waiting for her retaliation. "I have no intention to play your game!" she screamed. "THERE IS NO POINT TO THIS! WHERE IS THE CHALLENGE? THIS IS A SICK ANIMAL, BUT IT IS YOU..." she pointed her lance towards her uncle. "WHO IS SICK BEYOND MEASURE, BEYOND UNDERSTANDING, YOU ARE ALL WILD DOGS AND I WILL PUT EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU DOWN! IT MIGHT NOT BE THIS DAY, NOT THIS YEAR, BUT YOU ALL WILL BE DESTROYED AND KNOW THIS, IF YOU KNOW ANYTHING ELSE. IT WILL BE ALL YOUR FAULT!" the crowd laughed and threw more rocks, daggers and other things.
The coeurl howled once more in pain as the projectiles hit it, retrieving like a scared kitten, lowering itself to the ground. The howls become whimpers, the whimpers defeat. The sudden weight on the coeurl hurt it a bit, but it dimmed the rest of the projectiles. The beast tried to look up, but Iliette's weight did not let it. "And you... Don't ever give up, not to these bastards...." she winced as a dagger or two hit her. "We are gonna get out of here... You hear?"
The beast roared in agreement. Iliette stood up and staggered to the closed gates and began whacking at the locks to no avail, the blood loss was getting to her, both from her arm wound and some of the open gashes on her skin. She will see everyone, her friends, Ywain, Minnoune, Fram, Fitz, Khuma, Tora, Xi, Kyndle, The rest of the Drifters. Nix... Tears streamed down her face. She will definitely not die here!!! Not now, when she got so far! Her strength was fading her, she used her body to trash against the gate, when the coeurl lunged. "this is the end...."
The beast did not lunge at her, but the already weakened door, smashing it once more with a loud roar, echoing the arena. Iliette smirked. They were free... She staggered as fast as she could as both her and the Coeurl tried to leg it as quickly as they could. The guards gave chase shooting arrows. The coeurl rushed off leaving Iliette behind as she tried to keep pace with the large cat.
She was about to pass out when, she heard the coeurl once more, charging towards her, letting her collapse on his back. Guards screaming orders to each other, the voices blending into the background noise. She held onto his fur. She smiled as a child. It was soft like a cuddly toy, the rocking of the animal's back as it ran, the noise of the people chasing them. It was a lullaby. She wanted to sleep. I will tell him everything... she thought as she closed her eyes.
She woke up in a room. A comfortable room, a woman patting her head with a cloth. She shot up thinking it was just a dream... Her surroundings were different. The room was small, with wooden dividers distinguishing the different areas of the house. The woman in front of her was a Hyur with blond hair. She looked old, but no silver showed in her hair. "Wh..Where I am?" Iliette asked, she winced as she was putting pressure on her arm for longer then a minute.
"Lay back down now sweetheart..." The woman addressed her smiling. "You are safe now... We found you and your ceourl near the beach, ready to collapse and you already lost a lot of blood..." she rinsed the cloth. "He didn't want to leave your side... Thank the gods and your own luck that my husband is a healer, though he only works with farm animals mostly.." she chuckled.
"How long was I out?" Iliette asked. "I don't know how long you two were traveling, we have been taking care of you for two days now..." The woman replied as she left. Iliette stared at the ceiling, letting out a sigh as she got comfortable in the bed again. The woman came back with a small tray of food. "You must be hungry..." she smiled as Iliette's stomach betrayed her with a loud growl. She sat down the tray and helped Iliette into a sitting position. "Here... Let me help you..." the woman grabbed the spoon. Iliette turned her head. "I'm not a babe, you know...?" she snapped. The woman lowered the spoon with a sad expression. "I.. I know..." she replied. Iliette adjusted herself, embarrassed at the harsh comment toward the woman who have saved her life. She took the spoon with her bad hand and the bowl of soup the other and began to eat. "Thank you..." she glanced over as the Hyur began smiling again.
"No problem sweetheart..." she patted herself down and left Iliette in peace and began on housework.
