Anyone may join, but this is a storyline that's been going on so allow me to summarize the whole event (I'll provide the two reports from the major events in a following post)
Maesluan Zejaire and Azerill found a few mysterious orbs in a random trip to the Ruins of Qarn. Two orbs are irrelevant at this point, but one seemed be of major concern. After discussing with other members of the guild (namely Kil, Thel, and Khala), Maes began to explore the ruins with Khala and Thel only to find a device, a broken orb, and a third orb, the last being potentially trapped. They decided to retreat from there to inspect their new findings.
Another lead popped up a little later, leading Maes, Kil, Cibus, and Pinny to go north of Camp Drybone to the Invisible City. There they encountered a zombie arcanist and a journal with leads that seemed to indicate the device that they had found at the ruins of Qarn.
Since then, Maes has poured himself into research on all he has (barring a few incidents) and recently a lead has just turned up...

Recent Excursion to the Ruins of Qarn Report by Maesluan Zejaire Participants: Thel Dawnbreaker, Khala Takhasen Sub-Participant: Nanasi Nasi
Background: A while ago, Azerill Reinhart and I found three orbs alongside a book in a trap door near the ruins of Qarn. Azerill took claim of the book to research and passed the orbs along to me to figure out what they were for. Two orbs turned out to be primitive forms of link pearls, and one is presently in the possession of Nanasi Nasi. I maintain possession of the other.
After bringing the third pearl, which was yellow compared to the white pearl ones, to Kilandara, it turned out to be a minor aether sink. It would absorb minor aether from the holder or surroundings. Not enough to be of a bother, as I carried it around me for a while without noticing anything even with my meager spell casting capabilities. Kilandara stated it may be a part of some kind of device to control the aether in it or around it and recommended I find a container for now as it could also just not have been completely activated. She referred me to Khala Takhasen, who then created a container that Thel Dawnbreaker now has in his possession.
I also asked a contact of mine to look around the ruins. If she found anything of note, I would prefer she notified me, but anything of value that wasn’t magical was hers to take. She got back to me with a report about a device in one of the ruined buildings. She described it as having three slots and two scales. I contacted Khala and Thel as they both knew of this objective and asked them to join me in my exploration out to the ruins. We traveled there with little incident and found the item, which was more broken down than I thought. It also had a symbol of fire on the right, which when Thel touched it was warm, and a symbol of a gem on the left, which provided a light shock. The rest was cool to the touch, being in the shade. While not conclusive, we felt this was representative of the thunder and fire that thaumaturgies could cast.
Khala located a gem that appeared dun, and we decided that might mean there was a third gem. When we looked around, we found a safe in the upper levels of a building and Khala managed to open it. Inside was a head statue with a third orb, blue, in its mouth and inscriptions behind it. (There was also a red stain under it but we could not determine the source.) The inscription had a translation near it that said:
"One swift with the heart cannot take the blue, but a spell with one's head is always proven true. Healing is the best step to find what you seek.”
It is believed that it may require a healing spell, but unsure how to implement it. Also, Khala noted that the last line didn’t work with the rest of the riddle.

A trip to the Invisible City Report by Maesluan Zejaire Participants: Kilandara Zomerana, Cibus Alimento, Pinny Aerani
While I am not allowed to provide the name of my lead that led me to going to the Invisible City, I can state that I had plans to head up here anyway. The Invisible City has long had connections with Sil’dah and the Belah’dian civilization. However, I received a tip that I may find an answer up there and so I headed out, deciding to call for reinforcements in case things became violent or it was a trap. Kilandara Zomerana, Cibus Alimento, and Pinny Aerani answered the call at this point and we met up at the Golden Bazaar.
When we arrived at the Invisible City, Pinny discovered scratch-markings on one wall, but nothing specific. We also found a journal off the edge of a cliff and had Cibus jump down to retrieve it. While he was doing so, however, we got attacked by a zombie who seemed to be casting arcane magic. After a brief fight, the zombie was defeated and we had the journal, along with the arcanist grimoire . We returned to my room with the journal and looked over it.
There appeared to be a few entries but most of them were incomplete. A thorough scan would reveal only 2 are fully legible and another four have any length of decent content
The first entry, a partial one reads: ... unbound by the worries of war, we were looking, not to make amends, but to try and better utilize what we do have. Our ancestors may scorn us, maybe Azeyma herself may smite us before we are complete. We can only hope she will forgive us our ambitions
The second, a full entry reads: On the fifth day after they brought back the conjurer, we were very grateful, for our healing took leaps and bounds once more. Many others thought this a chance to seek amends, but I and my companion felt another opportunity could rise. This. This was exactly what we needed. Unfortunately, the chance to broach the subject of a weapon to a conjurer was probably not the best of plans. We'll have to proceed carefully, but if this all pans out all we need is access to arcane.
The third entry, a partial one, reads: ... agreed to help us with a few items we had. This worked out great but my companion is now worried about having a third member on board, worried that more mouths means more chances to spill the secrets. I, myself, am less concerned. We're not telling C'lantaa everything.
The fourth entry, a partial one reads: ... going to back out. Which is unfortunate, as he was our arcane. One can never trust an Elezen though. C'lantaa is still sticking with us, even though she knows what we're doing now. My companion is now thinking of taking it a different direction though. Not a weapon anymore, he truly wants to see how everything would work out.
The fifth, a partial entry, reads: We're making leaps and bounds after Keimgeim joined us, though I'm beginning to suspect she has her nose in her book more than even my companion. C'lantaa and I have been spending a lot more time outside of our research though. Somehow, we think someone leaked info...
The sixth and final entry that's legible reads: C'lantaa has gone missing and Keimgeim has died. I suspect that my partner in all of this is at fault, but I do not blame him, not entirely. I know he would not kill C'lantaa as she bears my child, Ameyva bless, but I fear that the future may not be kind to our friendship. I have taken precautions avoiding turning out project back to the devastating nature we originally intended, and as the primary developer, I know how to stop him. For now, all I can hope is that I can escape to find C'lantaa after things wrap up here.
There are several more entries after, but none contain any useful information, largely due to being destroyed in one manner or another.
