Iliette stood at the arranged meeting waiting for Azeiox. Bentbranch Meadows, the place held so many good memories, of her getting lost as a child, being here maybe days even weeks at the time. She smiled before examining the spot she stood at.
She remembered their long conversations they had there with fondness. They spoke day and night, time went by so fast. They opened up to each other, like Iliette never could. She waled up and down nervously at the spot, she hurt him. She hurt him really bad. Their argument at the house, it was way to explosive, like her own personality. She was sorry, so sorry... She chuckled to herself "I use that word so much lately!" she meant it tough, the current events humbled her. She disappointed so many people, Nix, Illith, Nina, Zach, Azeiox... She failed everyone that she was even remotely close to. She will set it right somehow... "Somehow..." it was more of a prayer that she could.
She needed this trip, to figure things out, so many people told her to just be alone. "Maybe they are right." she needed to focus, she needed... Even Iliette didn't know what she needed. He was nothing but kind to her, and maybe that made her feel worse, so many of her friends took out their frustration at her. Not Azeiox or Nix. When she was alone it felt like a knife, twisting in her chest.
She sat down looking ahead. When she thought about leaving, she was thinking of leaving for Ishgard, pass the trials of a Dragoon, get stronger, face her fears, face the voices in her head. "Clarity..." That's what she needed. She nodded to herself and smiled, now to wait for Az to show!

As he walked towards upon the path, approaching Bentbranch Meadows, he held a quiet argument with himself on whether or not he should appear. The pass few days have been nothing but frustration. "For everyone." He reminded himself. This small venture allowed him to think back on the events that recently unfolded. Both the Arcanum and the Hyur. He came to a pause, placing his hand on the back of his neck and thought about how the Hyur would react yet quickly shook his head.
"She'll be fine.. She will stay in the Inn room.." He assured himself but only partially believed his words. His feet reacted on their own, walking further up the path, trying to remember the memories that rested within the Meadows. He smiled in spite of himself, remembering when he first took Iliette to camp in Ul'dah, seeing the crystal like mountain's glow and how happy she was. Taking her to the Meadows, even though he knew she has been their before and sharing bits of their past, both the good and the bed. And finally..
The Guardian Tree.
How he held that place so dearly. Remembering the waters, how the pools were illuminated in the light of the moon and his memory only grew brighter when he saw Iliette, the smile he wore showed he truly was happy. Yet it quickly faded as he ducked behind a tree. The memory he held so closely became tainted, rolling back to the spar match they held hours before they ventured to the Guardian Tree. He faced the tree, his breath becoming short, having issues with his usual breathing pattern. He couldn't stop the memory from flooding through as much as he wanted to.
With a shaky hand, he moved it towards his belt that held a satchel. Undoing the latch, he removed a small box that held rolled up herbs and placed it between his lips. Summoning a bit of fire within his grasp and lit the end of the roll, he felt the memory slowly fade with each puff of smoke he exhaled.
He was relieved. At least now it would take a period of time for the sudden rush of emotions to try and break down the wall he built over time, despite the cracks that came through every now and then. With a quick exhale, he pushed himself from the tree and approached Iliette. He didn't smile, as much as he wanted to, but he didn't seem to have a cloud over his head.
"Iliette.." His voice left him, holding a quiet tone but grasped on little emotion. He smiled slightly to her, his hands resting within his pockets.

She spotted him smoking in the distance, hearing her name, she smiled at him "Azeiox..." she stood up and waled over to him, remembering the argument they had at the company house. Iliette had a hard time holding back, she didn't mean it, did she? She wasn't afraid of Azeiox, not at all, the things he told her, they were private, she shouldn't have even mentioned them. She looked up at him apologetically. She didn't mean to hurt him, like that anyway. She tainted this serene place, his safe heaven. She found she always done that, destroying with one touch everything she loved, everything she cherished. What others cherished.
She looked away from him, a bit unsure as to what to say. "So... Where first?" she asked nervously laughing. She wanted to get going, to get this journey under way. She wanted to see Eorzea, through his eyes. She wanted to talk about the events at the house, the argument, how she didn't mean it. "We had to make it convincing... Right?" she thought, but at the back of her head, maybe she did enjoy it, to hurt others, like others have hurt her before. She was strong and she was capable, the frustration she harbored, she wanted to scream and shout. What would they have done in her place? She wanted to punch Nix, to say something, to react... At least... React... Maybe that's why she was so angry, so mean to Azeiox at the house...
She didn't want to think anymore, it hurt. Her internal argument with herself she wanted to make it quiet. She wanted to make it right so desperately, at the same time she wanted to be away. The adventure, the thrill of battle filling her veins, the wind through her hair. She wanted to be on the road again, to forget everything...

He raised his hand to greet her with a small brief wave as she approached him. He brought his hand down and dropped the other to release his grasp on the rolled up herb, stomping down on it. He exhaled the last remains of the smoke and bit on his lower lip. He too thought back on the argument at the company home. He narrowed his gaze to the ground and brought the same hand he waved to her to his chest and rubbed a spot.
He cleared his throat to pause the thoughts that came swarming forth, hoping to pause the emotions as well and get it out of his mind for now. They were taking a break away from the world they knew to discover a new world for the time being; Exploring Eorzea and what she had to offer. But now, when he looked forward to those events, he felt like their was a shroud over him very being. He did what he could to keep it at bay, for now at least.
Az almost didn't realize that she was talking to him. He was nodding, but his mind wasn't fully there. Not until he was summoned back to reality. "Uh..." He thought, raising his crimson gaze and glanced over the area. His hands, that were fidgeting with one another, dropped and his arm raised to wrap around her shoulder, holding her closely.
"I believe you know these lands better than I do, Iliette.." He lied, smiling softly at her. He had been on the run for so long, he understood every rock, leaf and branch in Gridania but he wanted to follow where she wished to go, learn something from a different view and perhaps.. Understand her a bit more in more ways than one.
He heard a whisper echoing in the area, flickering his gaze in search for the source and not wanting to alarm the woman he held company with. Once he heard it again, this time being a ghastly chuckle, he knew what it was and knew he wouldn't be able to find it with his eyes. It was within his own mind that formed the sound. The same thing he tried to run from for years. Yet he smiled down to Iliette softly, squeezing her shoulder, acting as if nothing was wrong.
'This journey is important..' He thought, 'And I won't let it be ruined by ghosts of the past..'
He walked forward, wishing to take the first steps of long ones to come beside the woman he loves.
